Sensei Kisaragi the First

Toyohashi Japan.

The Kisaragi Tattoo Family

Also know as Horikoi in his earlier career, sensei had spent more that 40 years tattooing in Japan. He dedicated his life to the pursuit of excellence within his craft, offering invaluable teachings and insight to Japanese tattooing, art and culture to his students. I had spent many years doing my absolute best to try and study as much as I could about these subjects on my own before having the privilege of meeting sensei through an introduction by my friend and family member, Gordon Claus, 2nd generation Kisaragi. I was, at the time quite proud of what I knew of the subject, but after meeting sensei I came to the conclusion that I had barely scratched the surface of this magical path. The lessons within the family group were extremely frequent and usually quite intense with a formal Japanese mindset attached to each teaching. In the early days of the school sensei had close to two dozen students from all over the world studying under him. But, with time those numbers slowly dwindled down, with some stepping away due to the intensity, some being asked to leave and some being forced to leave due to unfortunate life events. In the end there is only three students left, Gordon Claus- 2nd Generation Kisaragi of Germany, Lars Walking-Horiyou of Florida and myself. Together, we carry on the teachings, the pride and the spirit of the late, Sensei Kisaragi of Toyohashi Japan. Long Live Kisaragi The First. 文身道練成屯所
